Thank you for your letter of 18 May to the Lord Chancellor, and the enclosed copy of a letter from Angie Zelter, Trident Ploughshares, Valley Farmhouse, Cromer, Norfolk, to the Prime Minister. I am replying am this matter falls within my area of responsibility as Minister of State for the Armed Forces for nuclear policy, arms control and disarmament.

I am afraid there is nothing more that I can add to the many letters that you and Trident Ploughshares have already received on these subjects, including my letter to you of 19 January and the letter of 2 March that one of my officials sent to Angie Zelter. I should point out that the Government has never commented on the yield of Trident nuclear warheads. Such information is classified. John Spellar MP
