Who Benefits?
You benefit. Our call rates are considerably lower than BT’s, even considering their best tariffs, and we’re cheaper than cable too.
Your callers benefit. All our users are offered a free 0845 number, allowing callers to reach you from anywhere in the UK for the price of a local BT call. BT would charge you over £30/qtr for this service, which we offer you free. Your existing number continues to work as normal.
TP benefits. Trident Ploughshares get 6% of every call charge made when you use our service.
The Planet benefits. The Phone Coop is the only UK phone company to balance all its CO2 emissions and those of its suppliers. If enough people join us then other phone companies will follow our lead.
Democracy benefits. Every customer may join the coop, and each member gets exactly one vote. Your views count as much as those of our biggest customer or biggest investor.
The Coop movement benefits. The more successful any Coop becomes the bigger the challenge to an international system based on greed and conflict.
You benefit. If you become a member you qualify for the ’divi’, a share in our profits based on your spending. Last year members received 1.75 % of their total spending, further reducing their call costs.

What does it cost?
You can choose from the four tarrifs listed below. It costs nothing to join, you continue to pay BT (or your cable provider) for the line rental and any "star" or "select" services, and simply pay us for calls made via our service. BT lines can now transfer line rental to the phone co op at a cost of just £10.50 per month.
Your biggest saving might not be from the rates quoted below, but from our minimum call charge of 1.175p(incl VAT).

International rates are even better, as are charges for charities, voluntary groups, coops, and any larger business - please see Phone Coop Website.
Other calls (0845’s, pagers, premium, etc) are charged at BT rates but remember: short calls still benefit from our 1ow minimum charge.

How does it Work?
The Phone Coop sets up your service, and sends a welcome letter saying that it is ready to use. The welcome letter gives the number of the Phone Coop Customer Service line. From that point on all queries about your service should go to Customer Services rather than to anyone in TP. Your contract is with the Phone Coop, not with TP.
You dial an access number (4 digits from BT lines, 11 digit 0800 number from cable) in front of every number you call. You may like to program a memory button on your phone to do this. For non cable lines it can be arranged so that calls are re-routed automatically at your local BT exchange.
Towards the end of each month The Phone Co-OP send you a fully itemised bill for the calls you made during the previous month, and at the same time invite TP to claim their 6% royalty.
As they bill monthly some three weeks in arrears, the Phone Co-OP do expect customers to pay promptly; Alternatively you can contact our customer services (after you’ve received your welcome letter) and arrange to pay a fixed monthly amount by standing order.
You continue to pay line rental to BT / cable co, together with charges for any calls you don’t put through the Phone Coop.
You may stop using the service at any time without any penalty: you’d just pay for the calls already made, and post back the equipment that has been sent you (if any).

How do I Apply?
Please print off the form contained in the link below, and fill it in. Attach the front page of your most recent BT or cable bill, (a photocopy is fine). For new lines, please send us the initial bill, BT contract note, or some other confirmation that the numbers are yours.
Please indicate BT, cable, or mobile, as the technical department need to know this to provide service.
To register more lines, please attach a separate sheet, headed "Please include these numbers in my application", list the extra numbers and types of line, and sign the continuation sheet as well as the main form.
Please also add a note if you use a switchboard, PABX, or similar phone system: this won’t be a problem but we will contact you for more details.
Post the form to Harmony at:
TP - Phones for Peace
14 Rowlatts Hill Road
Leicester LE5 4UN
If you have a PABX or other phone system this is not a problem, but please include a note with the form saying that you have a phone system and a Phone Coop technician will contact you for further details.
